Minimum 90% of funds go directly to scholarships and student support, with 10% reserved for essential administration and fundraising

Our Commitment Transparency

At Beyond Borders, we believe that access to quality education must go hand-in-hand with financial transparency. Too often, charitable organizations have been overshadowed by stories of misuse and fraud, leaving donors to wonder whether their contributions truly make a difference. We want to help change that narrative. Supporting education should feel meaningful and trustworthy—not clouded by doubt about where your money is going.

That’s why we are committed to openly sharing our financial records with donors. While the cost of hiring a third-party auditor is currently beyond our reach, especially given the complexities of tracking funds across borders, we strive to be as transparent as possible with the resources we have today. In the future, we hope to implement independent auditing as we grow.

In the meantime, you can view and download our detailed financial records below, along with a clear breakdown of how donations are spent. The pie chart offers a simple snapshot of recent contributions and how they directly support students.

Your trust is just as important to us as your generosity. Together, we can build an organization where every dollar makes an impact and every student has the opportunity to learn.

How Funds are Transferred

Right now, we’re using Remitly to send money internationally. Remitly works a lot like Venmo, CashApp, or PayPal in the U.S.—but instead of linking to a bank card, funds are sent directly into “mobile money” accounts that are widely used across Africa.

Here’s how it works:

  • Donations are first held in our U.S. bank account at Valley Bank Glacier/Mountain West Bank.

  • We then transfer funds into Remitly.

  • From there, funds are sent to the account of Clay Thomas (our director), who disburses them either directly to beneficiaries or covers tuition and fees on their behalf.

Accountability

  • Beneficiaries must provide receipts of enrollment as well as term-by-term grade reports to remain eligible.

  • Funds are only released one term at a time, and continued support requires proof of good standing.

  • To protect student privacy, we do not post grades publicly unless given permission.

Looking Ahead
As of August 2025, this is how the program operates. Our goal is to eventually transfer funds directly to school bank accounts. While this might sound simple, the reality is complex: international policies, transfer fees, local regulations, and tax issues can all add costs or risks. We are working hard to balance two goals—

  1. Ensuring as much money as possible goes directly to students.

  2. Using safe and official channels that protect both donors and beneficiaries.

A Note of Honesty
We’re still new and figuring out the most efficient way to fund these programs. It isn’t always easy, but we’re committed to 100% transparency along the way. If you ever have questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out, we’re happy to walk you through how your support is being used.
