Who We Are

At Beyond Borders Education Fund, our mission is to provide vulnerable students in Zambia with the financial support they need to continue their education and unlock their full potential.

Founded by former Peace Corps Volunteers and partnered with Zambians with a passion for educational opportunity, we’ve seen firsthand the challenges talented students face in accessing secondary and higher education. In a country where 67% of children live below the international poverty line of $2.15 per day (World Bank, 2023), even top-performing students are often forced to abandon their education due to financial hardship.

We believe education is one of the most powerful tools for breaking the cycle of poverty. A 2021 study co-published by Stanford University found that 75% of global GDP growth from 1960 to 2000 was driven by gains in math and science education.

In Zambia, the cost of education is remarkably low compared to Western countries. For just $300 per year, we can sponsor a student’s boarding school tuition at a quality secondary institution. For $200, students can now access accredited university degrees online through distance learning programs. And for $1,500, we can fund a full year of study at one of Zambia’s top universities.

We believe every student deserves the chance to succeed.
